Methodology & sources

How every price on this page is built

Every rate ties back to a named source, a stated refresh interval, and a public rule for how gaps and sponsorships are marked.

Where our data comes from

Three sources feed every price you see here. None of them are blended into a single hidden number.

Free-market rate feed

Currency and gold prices come from market-data providers that collect free-market prices. Most items have a second source that takes over if the first stops updating.

Checked every few minutes by day, less often overnight

Central Bank of Iran

Official rates are published by the Central Bank and shown here without adjustment.

Checked every six hours

Tracked crypto exchanges

Crypto prices are pulled from the exchanges listed in each asset’s comparison table, such as Nobitex, Wallex, Ramzinex and Bitpin. The price shown is the lowest buy price among them.

Understanding the different rates

The same currency or coin can carry more than one price at once. Each one answers a different question.

Free market

The rate traded openly between currency and gold dealers day to day. This is the number most exchanges and news outlets quote, and the one used across this site by default.

Official (Central Bank)

The rate the Central Bank of Iran publishes for a short list of currencies. It is shown as published and is often not a rate the public can trade at.

Premium (حباب)

For gold coins, the gap between a coin’s price and the value of the gold it contains, driven by demand for the coin itself, not the metal.

Transfer (personal / company / PayPal)

Rates for moving money in or out of Iran through personal, company, or PayPal-linked channels. These differ from the cash free-market rate because they carry transfer risk and route restrictions.

How we handle outages

When a source goes quiet or turns unreliable, the chart says so.

Illustrative example, not live data
Feed interrupted 14:02–14:19

If a feed stops responding, the affected period is shaded on the chart automatically. Periods our team knows to be unreliable, such as a national outage or a source sending stale data, are marked the same way as incident bands. They are never filled in with an interpolated number, and never shown as if it were a normal, quiet market.

Marked gap, not a smoothed line

Sponsorship & advertising

Two kinds of mark, always separate.

An exchange can pay to appear first in a comparison table. When it does, it carries a “Sponsored” badge, visible at all times.

The exchange with the best price always gets its own “Best price to buy” or “Best price to sell” badge, wherever it sits in the table, even when that is a different row than the sponsored one.

Advertising never appears above the price ticker, on any page.
Illustrative example, not live data
Ramzinex Sponsored
92,310
toman Spread 0.14%
Nobitex Best price to buy
92,180
toman Spread 0%
92,240
toman Spread 0.07%

More detail

How fresh a price is

A new value is stored only when the price actually changed, so the time shown next to a price is the source’s own time, not the time of our last check. A price that has not been checked for a while is marked with a warning.

24-hour, weekly and monthly changes

A change percentage is shown only when that source was observed for the whole period. If data was missing during the period you see a dash rather than a figure that could mislead.

Exchange comparison

The buy price is what a buyer pays; the sell price is what a seller receives. The “best price” marks are computed from the prices alone, and only among fresh prices quoted in toman. An exchange can pay for the top position in a table; that row is always labeled “Sponsored”, and the “best price” mark is never taken from another row.

Tether and the dollar

The “Tether on exchanges vs. the free-market dollar” page places two market prices side by side, each with its own time. It is a data report, not a forecast and not advice to buy or sell.

Limits

Prices are for information and may differ from the price you actually trade at with an exchange or a shop. If you spot an error, tell us through the contact page.
